Order picking – key figures
In the picking process, storage locations and items are identified, items are picked and transferred to the (sorter) packing area. Based on the corresponding warehouse key figures, the control center can be monitored and the picking targets measured.
The number of picking orders, the number of items per order, the multiple accesses per item and batch, the start and end per batch, and the number of golden boxes are important for the control center. Golden boxes are boxes of inventory that can be sent directly from the warehouse to the sorter (packing area) without having to go through the picking process.
To measure picking targets, the key figures for the following processes play a role: transit times per order and batch, batch optimization, picking per employee, quality picking and number of picking orders.
Recipients of the key figures are the head of logistics and other employees who play a role in the picking process.
Picking can be done in both single-stage and two-stage processes. For more information on single-stage picking, see Single-stage picking – picking without system support.
