The fashion and lifestyle company Breuninger was founded in 1881 by Eduard Breuninger and is now one of the leading omnichannel department stores in Europe. For over 140 years, Breuninger has been setting high standards in the areas of fashion, beauty and lifestyle with an exclusive selection of international designer brands and selected newcomer brands.

The Breuninger goods service center was opened in 2019 in the Eichwald industrial estate in Sachsenheim with a total floor area of around 76,000 square meters. The WDZ in Sachsenheim combines the areas of merchandise processing, supplying stationary retail and online shipping, content production with a photo and text studio, the Breuninger confectionery, an administration department and an employee canteen.

Thanks to the individual nature of the TUP software, we benefit from a high degree of flexibility and rapid implementation of changes and adaptations. TUP.WMS was the perfect fit for our requirements – this is still evident today.

Even at this early stage, we received good advice from our TUP colleagues, who of course contributed their experience from other projects. That helped us a lot because Sachsenheim was a new and, above all, unique project for us. We were therefore very grateful for the wealth of expertise that was available in Stutensee.

We managed to pull off a go-live despite enormous challenges: the coronavirus pandemic, huge incoming orders in e-commerce and we still managed it with confidence. This shows that the collaboration was excellent and that the right topics were addressed at the right time.

For me, however, it was simply great to see that we have optimized the routes here at the WDZ, that everything has been standardized and digitally supported, that training is now easier and a lot of thought has been given to throughput and productivity. So the relocation here was definitely a highlight for me.

Thorben Pleister, team leader in goods receipt, provides an insight into the initial situation and the integration of his department’s requirements.
