Value Added Services

Value-added services are value-added services. The services are also known as premium services or value-added applications. They are not necessarily visible to many end users at first glance. Value-added services include the pre-assembly of system parts, labelling of textiles or assembly of displays. In terms of logistics, same-day delivery would therefore be a value-added service.

Providers of value-added services offer the value-added service over and above the basic service. They combine the basic service with other services, thereby enhancing the overall service. The use of the value-added service should prove to be more economical for the end user through the appropriate combination of the basic service and the services, compared to the use of several services individually.

Value added services in logistics

Many logistics services are not provided by the transport of goods alone. In addition to transport, handling and storage processes, there are other tasks to be fulfilled in logistics along the value chain. Logistics service providers must be able to react quickly and offer consumer-orientated solutions. To this end, they often offer value-added services for numerous service activities. A business area of logistics services that is based on long-term co-operation between the manufacturer and the logistics service provider is known as contract logistics. The division of labour cooperation is regulated by a service agreement, a contract. This centres on logistical service packages.
