Transport management – forklift guidance system

A forklift guidance system optimizes the utilization and efficiency of forklift transport on the premises. Particularly in facilities with a high volume of manual transport, a significantly improved coordination of trips can be achieved.

The connected vehicles are usually equipped with terminals and scanners. The drivers receive their orders via the terminals, and they use the scanner to confirm storage and retrieval at the start and end of the journey. This means that the drivers are always connected to the IT system and the system can react immediately to current developments.

Since both the storage location and the goods to be transported are scanned, the inventory of the goods moved is automatically posted in the system. In addition, the forklift guidance system always has the current position of the vehicle. Scanning the goods to be transported and the storage area also ensures that the right delivery has been placed in the right place.

Thanks to the connection to the material flow computer, transport orders can be assigned in a route-optimized manner and empty runs can be minimized as far as possible. Various order priorities, shift models or a changed warehouse topology can also be automatically taken into account when assigning orders.
