Production logistics
Logistics encompasses all tasks relating to the planning, control, provision and optimisation of processes along the value chain. Production logistics encompasses the complete view of all internal processes with regard to transport, handling and storage. It acts as a link between a company’s procurement logistics and sales logistics. It can also be described as an intralog network.
The task of production logistics is to control and monitor all inventories and goods movements within the production sites. Production processes should be supplied with the required production factors in terms of type and quantity as well as in a coordinated manner in terms of space and time.
The aim is to ensure the optimum combination of information, material and value flows while continuously improving the production process. Improvements, simplifications and savings are to be achieved in the production area.
