Industrial Pallets: An Overview of Standard Four-Way Pallets

An industrial pallet is, like the common Europool pallet, a standardized four-way pallet. The pallet is transported, for example, using an industrial truck, such as forklift or a pallet jack. The term “four-way pallet” refers to the ability to load and unload the pallet from all four sides.

The industrial pallet has similar dimensions to the standard Europool pallet (Euro pallet type EUR). The main difference lies in the width. While the Euro pallet type EUR measures 1200 x 800 mm, the industrial pallet measures 1200 x 1000 mm.

Industrial pallets are standardized by the European Pallet Association (EPAL) as Euro-Pallet Type 2 and Euro-Pallet Type 3.

Technical Specifications of the Industrial Pallet

The Euro Pallet Type 2 is based on the following technical specifications:

Dimensions: 1200 x 1000 x 144 mm
Net weight: 31 kg
Load capacity: 1250–1500 kg dynamic load, 3000–4000 kg static load

The Euro Pallet Type 3 is based on the following technical specifications:

Dimensions: 1200 x 1000 x 144 mm
Net weight: 35 kg
Load capacity: 1250–1500 kg dynamic load, 3000–4000 kg static load

For industrial pallets, the load capacity, height, and—to a lesser extent—the weight can be customized. For the base boards, cross boards, and deck boards, materials such as pine, hardwood, or softwood can be used.
