When bicycle manufacturer Canyon established a new production and warehousing facility in Koblenz, TUP, as the general planner, took charge of the entire software side of the project. The result was a WMS featuring digital, two-stage order picking and dynamically controlled line production—powered at its core by TUP.SML (Smart Mobile Logistics), a proprietary solution for mobile data collection on any Android device.
The real breakthrough came shortly thereafter: Within just three months, TUP deployed the TUP.WMS “Canyon Logistic System” (CLS) at a second location. To ensure that growth of this kind does not result in siloed solutions, TUP also developed CLS.GLOBAL—a central control layer that networks all Canyon locations via a common interface, regardless of their respective topologies, and enables centralized monitoring.
Following the principle of “software follows function,” a single site project thus evolved into a company-wide, modularly expandable software platform—one that allows Canyon to integrate new warehouses at any time without version conflicts and to flexibly consolidate production capacities.
