Steady conveyor

Steady material handling system: Material (bulk or piece goods) is transported in a steady flow from one or more feeding points (sources) to one or more delivery points (destinations), e.g. belt conveyors, roller conveyors, chain conveyors, circular conveyors, etc.

Characteristic features of conveyors are

  • a continuous/discrete-continuous flow of conveyed material,
  • central drive in continuous operation,
  • loading and unloading during operation,
  • always ready to receive/deliver,
  • fixed installations.

The continuous operation allows the transport of relatively large quantities in a short time (compared to discontinuous conveyors). For piece goods, the throughput is calculated as the quotient of the conveying speed and the mean distance between pieces.
