TUP has been awarded the “Software Made in Germany” seal of quality by the Federal Association of IT SMEs (BITMi). For a company that has been developing intralogistics software in Germany for over 45 years, this certification may seem a matter of course at first glance. Nevertheless, in these times, the certification carries even greater significance — both internally and externally.
What the seal means
The “Software Made in Germany” quality seal is awarded by the Federal Association of IT SMEs (BITMi) and supported by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK). It is one of the best-known quality awards in the German IT sector. Specific criteria define the requirements that companies must meet:
- The manufacturer is based in Germany.
- The key stages of the software’s development have taken place in Germany.
- Quality assurance and testing are carried out in Germany.
- The user interface, documentation and support are available in German.
- The future viability of the software is contractually guaranteed.
- Reliable customer references are provided.
Each of these criteria is assessed by the BITMi and its expert advisory board.

A local team that thinks along with you
TUP is a medium-sized family-run business based in the Karlsruhe region. We have been developing warehouse management software since 1980 – and have always done so here in Germany. Our development, quality assurance and project support teams work on-site at our campus. Our customers do not get caught up in obscure support loops. They have access to real-life contacts who know each individual system inside out, as they helped develop it.
The seal confirms exactly what we work towards every day: practical software that is created in Germany, tested here and supported here – reliable, durable and tailored to the specific requirements of our project partners.
The term ‘Made in Germany’ has a meaning all of its own. According to BITMi, it is associated worldwide with the highest quality and exceptional customer satisfaction. These are certainly values that TUP pursues in all its services. That said, it is clear that we are in an era where digital sovereignty and accessibility are becoming increasingly important for businesses in terms of investment security. Who has access to the source code? Who is at the table when problems arise? Who understands the regulatory and economic framework within which systems operate?
At TUP, the answer is always the same: an on-site team that thinks along with you.
Software follows function – our credo
Our intralogistics solutions are based on the principle that ‘software follows function’: our customers’ processes determine what the software looks like — not the other way round. This approach only works if development and customer support work closely together. Short lines of communication, a shared language, direct accountability, updates and support spanning decades. These are not promises that every company makes, let alone can keep.
Trust that we have earned
Clients such as Adidas, Zalando, Bosch, Breuninger and Pfizer rely on bespoke warehouse management systems based on TUP.WMS – for complex projects where off-the-shelf software simply isn’t enough. This trust is built on a solid foundation, and certification with the ‘Software Made in Germany’ seal is just further proof of this.
