RFID transponders from the printer are currently the subject of research in RFID technology.
Using polymer printing or alternative printing processes, lightweight, flexible and cost-effective RFID transponders could be produced – directly from the printer. With a production price of less than 1 cent, this would be a quantum leap for RFID technology. The transponder could be printed directly onto the packaging, for example. Sooner or later, RFID technology could also find its way onto disposable products and replace the barcode as the most important information carrier.
