Discontinuous Conveyor

Discontinuous conveyors work in so-called intermittent operation. The transport takes place in several individual movements that occur one after the other in chronological order, but sometimes also simultaneously (e.g. starting, lowering, lifting the load, etc.). Examples of discontinuous conveyors are forklifts, cranes, automated guided vehicles, etc. Characteristic features of U. are

• interrupted flow of conveyed material/working cycles,
• drives in intermittent/short-time operation,
• loading and unloading at a standstill,
• partly freely maneuverable.

The throughput is equal to the reciprocal of the playing time. The playing time is the sum of the individual playing times (from load play and empty play). Source: logipedia / Fraunhofer IML
